Homeless Kitty at Lake Quivira

By Nancy Noland

When a little gray cat began showing up at my neighbor the Kaufman’s and my house, we thought he was lost, but after inquiries, it became evident that no one had lost this cat and that perhaps he had been dumped on the road and was looking for help.

We began feeding the little guy and he was very grateful. We asked around to see if anyone could use a cat, without success. When the weather turned so cold, we worried about him outside, and my neighbor opened her garage door a little so he could stay inside, but he was a lonely, scared guy. I sent out an e-mail hoping to find a family for him, and the outpouring I received was amazing. There were offers of help and ideas and so many caring people that were worrying about this little creature.

Eventually we were able to catch him and took him to the Merriam Animal Shelter so he would be safe and warm. One couple at the Lake is interested in adopting him and will go there to see if it is a good match for them, but he was so cute and nice that I feel sure someone will come rescue him to a loving home.

Just wanted to say thanks and how nice to live in a community with so much love and compassion. We are blessed!
