A sweet thanks to dessert contestants

Linda Segebrecht’s first prize colorful small pots had four different fillings: s’mores, banana pudding, Boston cream cheesecake and orange pound cake concoction.

Dear Ladies and Gentleman:

I want to give you all a huge THANK YOU for participating in our Sweet Success Contest! The House Committee was thrilled to have so many contestants who shared their talents and treasured recipes. I know I’ve never tasted so many great desserts – not to mention, all in one place and all at one time. We know they took lots of work, and certainly everyone who came enjoyed them immensely–as was clear from the licked-clean plates–and I saw a few “doggie boxes” go home, too. I think all of your recipes were clear winners, and Marc does have them all for future use. And I know I’m looking forward to ordering dessert in May, for starters.

We are hoping to do more such contests in the future . . . brunch dishes, mac and cheese, who knows? We’d welcome your suggestions at house@quiviralake.com. Or maybe do a recipe book in the future.  So many possibilities, so little time . . .

Thanks again! We hope you had fun, and I know all of us enjoyed the results of your labor. To me, it’s these kinds of events that make Quivira so special.

The three winners according to the judges, starting with third place: Colin Ashby for his Vermont maple bread pudding; 2nd, Mary Linda Boling for her southern style carrot cake, and 1st, Linda Segebrecht for her small pots.
