QMGA adopts new guidelines for Stag/Guest Days

By Gerry Wigginton
June was a busy month for Jeff because of the relative drought-like spring, and his need to groom and groom the course for the Pocahontas and Lake Classic, both highlight events for Lake Quivira in 2012.
The QMGA Board discussed Guest Days at this month’s Board meeting. The following changes for QMGA Guest Days were adopted: Guest Days will be re-designated as Stag/Guest Days. QMGA members are encouraged to form teams consisting completely of members or a combination of members and guests and participate in the scheduled event.
If member-only groups do not want to participate in the scheduled event, they are welcome to play in the shotgun if there is not a full field of members and guests. QMGA members may also bring guests on designated Stag/Guest Days and not participate in the schedule event or the shotgun as long as they host their guests for dinner or lunch in the Clubhouse. Arrangements for guest play outside the event need to be made through the Pro Shop. The QMGA Board feels the Guest Day event and dinner are still the best value in the City, but want to accommodate the wishes of all the membership.
Check with Jack Carson about any last minute needs he has for volunteers for the Classic. He probably could use you if you call.
One of the goals for the Lake Classic is to try to play within the allotted 2 1/2 hours. The course is supposedly rated for a 4 hour, 18 hole round. Help keep your fellow members ready to minimize undue delay since this seems to affect everybody from participants to Clubhouse staff and the Pro Shop. There may be requests to increase your pace of play if you are creating undue delay. Just do your best.
Following are the results of the QMGA Derby Classic, the QMGA Four Man Two Net Best Ball Event, and the QMGA Guest Day on June 21.
