Lake Quivira Photography Club unveils a new clubhouse exhibit

Be sure to check out the new Clubhouse exhibit, entitled Favorites, beginning Memorial Day weekend.
On behalf of all those who attended June LQ Photo Club meeting, we extend a huge thank you to our guest speaker, Randy Braley, for his fantastic presentation this week on the topic of architectural photography. I must say that the group was a-buzz with enthusiasm seeing his uber-cool photos of contemporary interior and exterior buildings, such as the new engineering buildings on the KU and the K-State campuses.
Starting with a show-and-tell of different equipment (lens, filters and other funky thingamajigs), he then shared information about the various challenges in photographing indoor spaces with tips for overcoming lighting issues. But, his creative elements in the large scale, public spaces were absolutely WOW in the way he:
* featured a blurred person or moving object
* introduced a splash of bold color
* captured geometric shapes and line
* generally used perspective!
“He got talent!” That’s for sure!   http://www.randybraley.com

Photo Club to meet at OP Arboretum
Floral Photography and the Great Outdoors
Tuesday, June 13
Meet at the OP Arboretum entrance at 6 p.m.

Not only is the Arboretum just a short drive from the lake, it is also just the place to take photos of vibrant early summer flowers in the botanical gardens, nature trails and sculpture exhibition. This meeting is a hands-on, learn-as-we-click and social outing.
Susan Hildalgo will offer our group key points for composition and color when taking photos of flowers and nature.
Jim Regan will cover the more technical aspects of photographing outdoors, including such topics, such as setting suggestions, lighting management and the like.
All are welcome!
