On Saturday, August 26, the Great Quivira Cardboard Boat Race was held on Crescent Beach. As part of the 2017 Pontoon Crawl, the event brought out over one hundred spectators to watch three boats compete for top honors. The strict rules required the competing boats to be constructed with cardboard and duct tape only, requiring the imagination of the top Lake Quivira design teams to complete the task.
The “SS Chuckle Head” with Paul and Jackson Phillips as crew took 1st Place in the Youth Division, followed by the team of Peyton and Brayden Frazier in “Blind Luck” finishing a close 2nd.
After a very interesting start, the team “In-N-Out” took 1st Place in the Adult Division with Jed and Joe Anderson as crew. Peyton and Brayden Frazier were also awarded the Best Theme Trophy by our judges Christi Stewart and Lisa Bower for their duck hunting theme “Blind Luck”.
A special thanks was given to all of our design teams, including Sean and Alison Phillips (Chuckle Head), Curtis and Amanda Frazier (Blind Luck) and Kevin and Cindy Griner (In-N-Out).
