At its February meeting, the Council approved up to $800 in funding for residents to get trained and become certified in the basic techniques of adult and child CPR and use of automated external defibrillators (AED’s). The City just acquired new AEDs for the police department, fire department and the Clubhouse. The old defibrillators were no longer in compliance with current medical protocols. The City has purchased new Philips AED on-site defibrillators for the police department, fire department and Clubhouse. Three new units will update the capability of first responders using AED units during heart attack calls. The new units replace older ones which are no longer in compliance with current medical protocols. The new units are much smaller and easier to use.
